The 1st thing we did was stop at this little viewing window. There were a ton of life in this tank. Jenna kept asking (the whole time we were there) if there was glass 'right there'. She and Adam were very afraid that the sea creatures would come out of the tank.
Check out this guy! He scared the bejubees outta us! He came from out of nowhere and swam right next to the glass in front of Hannah. Adam 'bout killed himself jumping down to get away! His eyes were about the size of golfballs!

After that small window, there were a couple other windows - each bigger and bigger - until we came to the glass tunnel.

We could see all these amazing animals beside us and above us. In fact, a sting ray came by and we could see its mouth grazing the glass above our heads.
This is Nandi. She is the only manna ray in captivity who was rescued from South Africa from a net. Her wing span is longer than Chris is tall.
These are the smaller sand sharks that they had. You can (hopefully) see a reference point of their size by looking at the man in the red shirt. They can get to be the size of a school bus. I remember seeing how big they were (especially when they went over our heads). But now that I am not right beside them, I can't comprehend it anymore.
This big glass area is the same aquarium with the tunnel. It is the largest aquarium in the world - the size of a football field. Look how small Hannah and Adam look.
We spent about an hour just looking at this tank. We decided to drag ourselves out of there to see what else the place had.
creepy eels...
(the bottom of each one was stuck in the sand and they were wiggling back & forth. Ick!)
pretty seahorses...
cool jelly fish...
Adam would not even think about getting next to the starfish...
humongous crabs...
crocodiles...
One of Hannah's favs - Beluga Whales...
There is so much more that we saw and I can't show it all. We had such a blast there, but the only thing missing was Chris. What a blessing it was that we had this chance to go!
Oh my goodness, what an experience. I think we need to put this trip in our plans the next time we are there! The pictures were great as was the commentary. I must say there were some pretty cute kids looking at the fish.
ReplyDeleteAdorable pix of some of my favorite kiddos! And the aquarium looks like fun!
